DAILY DEVOTIONALS

This year, our fast is a time to step into new levels of God’s power and purpose. We’re seeking His guidance to strengthen our bodies, ignite favor in our relationships and endeavors, gain clarity for the paths He’s calling us to, and make decisions with confidence. This fast isn’t just about giving something up, it’s about unlocking doors, encountering revelation, and stepping into the extraordinary plans He has prepared for us. As we dedicate ourselves to seeking Him, we trust that He will move in ways that exceed our expectations.

What is Fasting?

Fasting is the act of intentionally withholding from food (or other comforts) for a spiritual purpose. It is a sacred discipline designed to bring us into a deeper, more focused relationship with God. When we fast, we create space for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in our hearts, opening doors to fresh revelation, favor, and spiritual gifts that help us grow in our faith.

However, fasting is not just about abstaining from food or activities—it’s not a temporary diet or a self-improvement plan. Fasting is about aligning ourselves with God’s heart. It’s a sacrifice that invites a profound transformation in our relationship with Him. It’s a choice to step outside of our regular rhythms and pursue a more intimate connection with the Creator. There are deeper levels of understanding and breakthrough in God that are only found through intentional sacrifice.

To truly experience this, we must approach fasting with a desire to know God more deeply—to hear Him more clearly, and to glorify Him through our devotion. As we fast, we prepare our hearts, make room for God to move, and position ourselves to encounter Him in a way we never have before. When we seek Him with intention, He will meet us in the place we’ve prepared for Him.

How Do I Fast?

Fasting is a deeply personal journey. There’s no right or wrong way to do it—it’s about responding to God’s leading in your own life. Some people fast for a set period (like 6 AM to 6 PM), others choose to give up specific foods (like sweets, caffeine, or meat), or even activities such as social media or TV. The key is to choose something meaningful that will create space for greater intimacy with God.

In place of the things you’ve chosen to fast from, you’ll replace them with time spent in prayer, reading Scripture, and worshiping. Fasting is not just a “detox” for the body; it’s a “detox” for the soul. The purpose is to replace the time or energy spent on those things with moments of seeking, listening, and worshiping God.

Before You Start, Ask Yourself:
What is my motivation for fasting? What am I hoping to see change in my life, and how can fasting help me grow closer to God?
What specific needs or burdens am I carrying? What breakthroughs am I trusting God for?
Am I prepared to give God my full attention? Fasting is not about what we can receive, but about what we can offer. Are we ready to minister to Him, to honor Him with our time, and to exalt His name in worship?

Why do we fast?

Fasting is not about receiving from God—it’s about giving. It’s a time to lay aside our own desires and focus on offering our worship, gratitude, and devotion to Him. It’s an opportunity to honor God, to hear His voice, and to align our hearts with His will. Through fasting, we express our love for God in a tangible way.

Remember, fasting is a sacred offering, not a transactional act. God doesn’t need our sacrifices, but He delights in our hearts that are willing to surrender. As we engage in this fast, let’s expect God to show up in powerful ways, to reveal Himself to us more clearly, and to lead us into a season of spiritual breakthrough and transformation. Through our fasting, we unlock the deeper dimensions of God's presence, and in turn, He meets us with the breakthrough we seek.

Types of Fasts

Please consult with your healthcare provider if you have any pre-existing conditions or are on medication before beginning any type of fast.
Fasting is a spiritual practice that has many forms, and throughout the Bible, we see several examples of different kinds of fasts. Each fast serves a unique purpose, but they all focus on seeking God and sacrificing something in our lives to make room for Him. Here are a few common types of fasts:

Straight Fast (12hr Water-Only Fast)
A straight fast means you refrain from all food and consume only water during the period of your fast.
Esther 4:16 — “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast as you do.”
Pleasurable Fast (Abstaining from Distractions)
Some people choose to fast from activities that bring them pleasure and entertainment, like television, social media, or hobbies. This type of fast helps eliminate distractions so you can focus your attention fully on prayer and God’s Word.
Daniel Fast
The Daniel fast is a partial fast, often focusing on plant-based foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, and nuts. This is the fast we’re encouraging if you’re able. Daniel 10:2-3 — “In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all until the three weeks were over.” The Daniel Fast is one of the most widely practiced fasts in Christian communities. It’s a form of partial fast where you focus on plant-based foods, avoiding meat, sweeteners, and processed foods. In Daniel 10:2-3, we see that Daniel abstained from pleasurable foods and drinks in order to focus on prayer and mourning for God’s guidance. The purpose of this fast is not just physical cleansing, but spiritual realignment—replacing what we normally enjoy with things that nourish us spiritually.
Remember, fasting isn’t about the food you’re giving up, but about the condition of your heart. The goal is always to sacrifice what we enjoy in order to draw closer to God. The fasting is meant to create space for more of Him, clearing away distractions and focusing on the deeper things He wants to show you.

Starting with prayer

As we begin this 14-day journey of prayer and fasting, we’re not just giving up things, we’re stepping into a season of transformation and breakthrough in every area of our lives. This is a sacred time to seek God’s intervention, encounter His power in fresh ways, and receive the insight, clarity, and direction that only He can provide. We enter this fast with expectation, believing that God will meet us with healing, guidance, and new opportunities that surpass what we can imagine.

To fully embrace all that God has for us, we must be prepared and intentional. Prayer is the cornerstone of this fast, it draws us into God’s presence, where true breakthrough happens. Prayer isn’t just about asking; it’s about aligning our hearts with His will, surrendering our burdens, and inviting His supernatural intervention. Each day we dedicate time to talk with God, receive His instruction, and experience transformation, we are stepping closer to the breakthroughs He has already promised.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:6-8 that when we pray in secret, God rewards us openly. It’s not the number of words but the sincerity of our hearts that matters. This fast is a time to press in, pour out your heart, and encounter His presence in ways that change everything. If you’re new to fasting or prayer, don’t feel intimidated. The ACTS Prayer Model will guide you—helping you enter deeper intimacy with God and opening the door to the breakthroughs He has planned for you. This simple yet powerful framework reflects Jesus’ example in Matthew 6:9-13 and equips you to experience breakthrough in every area of life.

Creating space for God is where transformation begins. When we intentionally set aside time to pray, God reveals His plans, provides strategies for overcoming challenges, and releases favor over every area we’re believing to change. Prayer is the pathway to His presence, and in His presence, we find the breakthroughs we’ve been seeking.

Adoration

Begin by lifting your voice in praise. Thank God for His greatness and the breakthroughs He has already brought into your life. Declare His power, His faithfulness, and His ability to accomplish what no one else can.

Confession

Come before God with an open heart. Identify anything, sin, doubt, fear, or distractions, that may be blocking the breakthroughs He has for you. Ask Him to renew, cleanse, and ready your heart for the incredible things He is about to do.

Thanksgiving

Give thanks for the breakthroughs on the way. Praise God for His provision, His protection, and His unwavering love. Celebrate in advance the victories He is orchestrating in your life, trusting that His plans are already at work on your behalf.

Supplication

Bring your requests before God with confidence. Ask boldly for breakthroughs in your health, relationships, finances, career, or any area where you need His hand to move. Lift up others in prayer, too, standing in faith as you intercede on their behalf. Trust that God is already at work, and believe that His supernatural power is shifting situations in ways only He can.

Transformation

As you commit to prayer and fasting, remember that every moment in God’s presence is an opportunity for renewal and transformation. This fast isn’t just about what we give up, it’s about the insight, breakthroughs, and life-changing encounters we are stepping into. Stay intentional, stay expectant, and watch as God moves to unlock new possibilities and shift every area of your life.

Bible Study

Bible study is one of the most transformative practices on our journey with God. His Word isn’t just history or instruction, it’s alive and active, bringing clarity, guidance, and empowerment for every area of our lives. When we engage Scripture, we open ourselves to new levels of growth and possibility, in our faith, our relationships, our health, and our purpose. The Bible is more than a guide; it’s the key that unlocks doors to God’s power and plans. As we dive deeper, we position ourselves to experience His life-changing presence like never before.

Study Tips for Breakthrough:

  • Journal your breakthroughs: As you study, write down any insights or revelations God gives you. Share these with a prayer group or accountability partner. The more you reflect and share, the more you invite God’s breakthrough power into your life.
  • Study together for breakthrough: Reading the Bible with a spouse, family member, or friend for 15 minutes a day creates an atmosphere of agreement and unity. There’s a special kind of breakthrough that happens when we seek God together in community.
  • Set a specific time and place: Make Bible study a priority in your daily schedule. Choose a quiet, dedicated space where you can focus and encounter God.
  • Remove distractions: Eliminate the noise around you, even if it's just for a short time. God speaks in the stillness—and breakthroughs often come when we quiet our hearts and minds.
  • Use a Bible reading plan: Follow a plan or dive deeper into daily devotionals to guide your study. If you feel led, explore a specific book of the Bible that speaks to the breakthrough you need. God has already outlined a plan for your victory.

Unlock Breakthrough with the S.O.A.P. Method:

  1. Scripture
    • Begin by reading the full passage of Scripture. Take in the entirety of what God is saying.
    • Find the verse that speaks to your heart, the one that resonates with your current need or your area of breakthrough. God’s Word has the power to speak directly into your situation.
  2. Observation
    • Ask yourself, "What is God trying to show me in this passage?"
    • Write down your observations. What jumped out at you? What did God reveal? These insights often contain the key to your breakthrough—a deeper understanding or a new perspective.
  3. Application
    • Reflect on how you can apply the truth of this Scripture to your current situation.
    • How does this word relate to the breakthrough you’re seeking? Is there an action step, a shift in your mindset, or a deeper trust in God that you need to make? Apply the truth of God’s Word to your life and watch the breakthrough begin to manifest.
  4. Prayer
    • Close your study with a breakthrough prayer.
    • Ask God to help you apply what you've learned and to guide you in your journey toward breakthrough. Pray boldly for the breakthrough you're trusting Him for—whether it’s healing, financial provision, relationship restoration, or spiritual growth. God honors faith-filled prayers and is ready to meet you where you are.
Remember, Bible study isn’t just about gaining knowledge—it’s about inviting transformation into your life. When we engage with the Word, we position ourselves to receive breakthrough, to be empowered by the Holy Spirit, and to see God move in ways that bring lasting change. Stay committed, stay expectant, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into the breakthrough that is waiting for you in God’s Word.
